From the Circle of Reading Provincial Clergy of the Begin‑ ning of a XIX-th century

The archival materials resulted in article, are a good illustration of the relation to book culture and a library science of provincial clergy of first half of XIX-th century. The analysis of unique documents, many of which are published for the first time, allows to expand representations about level of erudition of clergy and private libraries on an example of the Saratov diocese.

Person and Reforms in the USSR in 1953–1985 (by Date of the Saratov Region)

In article the daily life of the Saratov’s citizens in period of Khrushchev’s and Brezhnev’s reforms was analyzed. Materials on the data of the archives, periodical press, collections and an interview were prepared.

Electrification of Agricultural Industry of the Volga Region in the Second Part of XX Century

The article analyses, on the base of normative documents, archives files, statistics, periodical, the process of electrification of agriculture of the state and particular the Volga region in the second part of XX century. The work shows the increasing of the level of complex electromechanization of industrial processes. Electro-technical reequipping of agricultural industry developed rather intensively in the researching period and largely promoted the liquidation of manual labour.

The personalities of the Time of Troubles: Andrey Fyodorovich Palitsin

The author of this article attracts readers’ attention to a life of one of the little-known figures of the Time of Troubles who was in the epicenter of events related to the struggle of the new government of Michael Romanov against the Swedish and Polish interventionists. This personality is Andrey Fyodorovich Palitsin. The tangled chronology of events concluding the period of Troubles in 1613–1614 is described in detail.

Living Conditions and Comfort of Cities of the Bottom Volga Region in 1920–1930 Years

This article is an original research at regional level of the «living conditions» covering set of such indicators, as a floor space on the person, degree of comfort of houses, their condition, security municipal conveniences. 

Preschool Educational Institutions in Kazan Educational Division in the Beginning of the 20th Century

The article deals with the process of establishing preschool educational institutions in Kazan Educational Division in the beginning of the 20th century. The author examines such issues as different types of preschool institutions, supervising authorities, establishment procedures. The emphasis is also made on curricula and lessons.

The evolution of the national composition of Saratov province in the first half of the 1920s

The article examines the changes in the national composition of Saratov province in the first half of the 1920s based on the materials of the All-Russian Census of 1920, the All-Union Urban Census of 1923 and the first All-Union Population Census of 1926. The factors influencing the evolution of the national structure of the region are being studied. The conclusion is made about the formation in the main features of the ethnic map of the Saratov region.

The activities of the urban Orthodox parishes of the mining and processing Southern Urals in 1917–1928 in the documents of the archives of Chelyabinsk and Zlatoust

The article reviews the written sources of two large archives of the Chelyabinsk region, reflecting the activities of Orthodox parishes of large industrial settlements of the mining and processing Southern Urals during the years of revolutionary upheavals and the formation of Soviet power. The composition, features of the content, and information saturation of documents are revealed.

The process of formation and development of entrepreneurship affected all spheres of economic and socio-cultural sphere of the Russian Empire in the second half of the 19th – early 20th centuries, which contributed to the formation of a new layer of business community, actively involved in the activities of local government and the first Russian parliament. In the present article an attempt to reconstruct the biography of one of the prominent entrepreneurs of Samara province M. D.

The Saratov chronicler G. A. Skopin

Deacon Skopin authored the first written work containing information on Saratov’s history. When published, it was referred to as a diary because it occasionally contains information from the author’s life. However, Skopin’s compilation is more accurately described as a chronicle, evident from his selection of facts, use of specific sources, and narrative style. Skopin omitted significant events from his life in the narrative. He did not document his experiences during the capture of Saratov by Pugachev.
