The author in the article examines one of the aspects of social thought in emigration – the attitude to the historical heritage of the former Russian Empire. The article is based on the papers of “The Days” newspaper, which was not published before.

In this article the author considers history of Russian scouts movement in the emigration and role that play in this organization Chief Scout of Russia Oleg Pantuhoff. The author shows danger of crushing and disappearance of the scout organization abroad and then analyses uniting role which in this situation has played O.I. Pantjuhov. This work is written mainly for specialists of history of the Russian Scout movement, but it can be useful for historians who specialized in the history of Russian emigration and youth movements too.

The disappointing results of WWI force people to look for the reasons for lack of proficiency of some commanders of that period. One of the factors that influenced their career development and high ranks was the evaluation system in Russia. The history of emergence and transformation of its basic principles has been described in the article.

Article is devoted the analysis of system of rules and the ethical principles of defence developed by the Russian attorneys at law at political trials in 1905. In article it is told about antagonism between the government and the Bar in days of the first Russian revolution. The author does a conclusion that studying and preservation of classical traditions of pre-revolutionary legal profession, as basic institute of a civil society, is actual for a modern society.

Private book collections – is an integral part of the cultural environment of the Russian educated society of the first half of the XIX century. The library of an outstanding state and political figure, a scholar, an ardent bibliophile A.S. Norov is a book treasury. In the article the process of the collecting his two libraries is considered. The article also considers the manuscripts and books of those libraries, discloses the reasons induced the owner of these magnificent libraries to sell them. It is noted that A.S. Pushkin used A.S.

The subject of these article is projects of university statute, developed in Russia at the beginning of XX century, their comparative characteristic is also given. The author examines the issues of academy autonomy, government policy in the sphere of higher education, etc.

Article is devoted a statistics problem Old believers. The author investigates government measures in this direction and answers thorny questions: what advantages and lacks why the statistics has not given desirable results at spent censuses of conservatives were. Also in article light is shed changes of number of supporters of old belief in the Kazan province in XIX and the beginning XX centuries, the old believe centres in province and on many other things.

I show the discrepancy between the perspectives and actual functioning of the state regional papers. The peculiarities of the development of Russian provincial publishing during the reforms of 1861 are discussed in the article.

In article separate private experience of clearing of the peasants, taking place on the eve of 1861 in A.V. Golovnin, A.D. Bludova and K.D. Kavrlin’s manors are considered. Research shows similarity of perception initiators of reforms of reaction from outside peasants. In article comes to light, how stereotypes about country passivity, to irrationality and backwardness interfered with dialogue of landowners-reformers with peasants.

The article deals with the Citizen edited by Prince V.P. Meshchersky. Having carefully analysed it the author comes to conclusion that during the period after reformation the conservatives including the sovereign power and the provincial landlords were equally interested in the existence of such a reactionary concervative edition as the «Citizen» that was expressing views of a certain part of the Russian society. All the time it was edited the magazine pleaded for the necessity of the autocratic and class system.
