Topics on Russian History in Imagination of Russian Emigration of the First Wave

The author in the article examines one of the aspects of social thought in emigration – the attitude to the historical heritage of the former Russian Empire. The article is based on the papers of “The Days” newspaper, which was not published before.

O. I. Pantuhoff Like a Symbol of Russian Scouts Unity

In this article the author considers history of Russian scouts movement in the emigration and role that play in this organization Chief Scout of Russia Oleg Pantuhoff. The author shows danger of crushing and disappearance of the scout organization abroad and then analyses uniting role which in this situation has played O.I. Pantjuhov. This work is written mainly for specialists of history of the Russian Scout movement, but it can be useful for historians who specialized in the history of Russian emigration and youth movements too.

Some Facts from the History of Evaluation of Militari Officers in the Russian Armi

The disappointing results of WWI force people to look for the reasons for lack of proficiency of some commanders of that period. One of the factors that influenced their career development and high ranks was the evaluation system in Russia. The history of emergence and transformation of its basic principles has been described in the article.

Role of Lawyers at Political Trials in 1905

Article is devoted the analysis of system of rules and the ethical principles of defence developed by the Russian attorneys at law at political trials in 1905. In article it is told about antagonism between the government and the Bar in days of the first Russian revolution. The author investigates government measures in this direction and answers thorny questions: what advantages and lacks why the statistics has not given desirable results at spent censuses of conservatives were. «Justice Demands to Ask Peasants...»: Experience of Dialgue of Liberal Reformers with Peasants on the Eve of 1861

In article separate private experience of clearing of the peasants, taking place on the eve of 1861 in A.V. Golovnin, A.D. Bludova and K.D. Kavrlin’s manors are considered. Research shows similarity of perception initiators of reforms of reaction from outside peasants. In article comes to light, how stereotypes about country passivity, to irrationality and backwardness interfered with dialogue of landowners-reformers with peasants.

The «Citizen» of Prince V.P. Meshchersky

The article deals with the Citizen edited by Prince V.P. Meshchersky. Having carefully analysed it the author comes to conclusion that during the period after reformation the conservatives including the sovereign power and the provincial landlords were equally interested in the existence of such a reactionary concervative edition as the «Citizen» that was expressing views of a certain part of the Russian society. All the time it was edited the magazine pleaded for the necessity of the autocratic and class system.
