Tradition of St. Cyrill and St. Methody in States Conception by Karl IV Luxemburg ́ s

The author of this article examine the problem: how Bohemian king and imperator Karl IV Luxemburg (1346–1378) attempted tradition of St. Cyrill and St. Methody for strengthening his rule.

Wolf, Raven and Serpent Images in the Old Norse Weapon Symbolism

In the current article the author makes an attempt of interpretation of three most significant animal symbols of Viking Age – the Wolf, the Raven and the Serpent – in their mythological, ritual and social sence. The author’s aim was to demonstrate and analyze the indissoluble connection between bestial symbolics and the cult of weapons, the inherent part of the Old Norse mythologic and poetic traditions, in the different aspects.

Aristotle and History of Sparta: Some Problems of Chronology

The article deals with the Aristotle’s forms of presentation and chronological correlation techniques of some historical facts and processes related to Spartan history in his «Politics». Thorough analyzing of certain passages of the «Politics» does demonstrates that Aristotle was quite knowledgeable of Spartan history and this competence enabled him to work out the original and logically elaborated conception of the Spartan historical evolution beginning from the early times up to his own days.

Эволюция представлений западных держав о германо-советских отношениях в 1918-1924 гг.

В 1918-1924 гг. происходит постепенное формирование основ, так называемого, «рапалльского» периода советско-германских отношений. Изучение данного периода продолжает сохранять свою актуальность в связи с внедрением в современную историческую науку междисциплинарных подходов, включением в исследовательское поле новых источников, таких как, публикации в прессе.

Полтора века борьбы с памятником: судьба колонны Нельсона в Дублине (1809-1966)

Статья посвящена непростой судьбе памятника адмиралу Нельсону в Дублине. Возведенный по инициативе самих жителей города непосредственно после гибели прославленного героя в битве при Трафальгаре, за полтора столетия своего существования он превратился из символа единения в напоминание об английском колониальном прошлом, о котором свободная Ирландия предпочла бы забыть. Однако памятник – фактически двойник колонны на Трафальгарской площади в Лондоне – настолько стал неотъемлемой частью города, что избавиться от него оказалось не так просто.

«Новая восточная политика» Вилли Брандта и бундесвер в 1969–1974 гг.

На основе архивных и опубликованных материалов проанализировано отношение высшего и низшего состава бундесвера к «новой восточной политике» канцлера Вилли Брандта и влияние последней на развитие вооруженных сил Западной Германии в 1969–1974 гг. Продемонстрирована поддержка внешнеполитического курса В. Брандта на разрядку в отношениях с социалистическим блоком со стороны рядовых и младших офицеров.

The «Turkish Model of Development» and the Reasons for its Failure for the post-Soviet Caspian Countries (1992–1993)

The article is devoted to the study of the reasons of the post-Soviet Caspian states’ refusal to use the «Turkish model» for their own economic and political development. It also analyzes the American attitude towards the countries of the region after the rejection of the concept of the «Turkish model of development» and the Caspian region states’ foreign policies in 1992–1993.

Entertainment as a Part of Leisure Activities in Lifestyles of Americans During Great Depression

This article studies the role of entertainment in leisure of Americans in 1930s. It attempts to analyze the reasons for changes in the lifestyles of Americans during Great Depression and to investigate the factor which can explain the extraordinary popularity of film industry among different layers of American society.

P.-Sh. Leveque about Ivan the Terrible

The author focuses on the lighting the reign of Ivan IV the Terrible by P.-Sh. Leveque on the pages of his «Russian History». Leveque was the first of the French historians who have tried to not only to give a critical assessment of the era, but also have tried to make an objective look at on the personality of the Russian autocrat of the XVI century.
