Historical and legal aspects of the formation of Azerbaijan-Turkish (ottoman) relations at the beginning of the XX century

In this article the author analyzes the historical and legal origins of the formation of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey. The political events of the early twentieth century are considered, as a result of which the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (ADR) was formed, as well as the political discourse in Azerbaijani society on the development of Azerbaijani-Ottoman relations. The result of the development of such political dialogue was the rapprochement and conclusion of a number of agreements between the ADR and the Ottoman Empire.

Italian expansion and British reaction in the Mediterranean (1920–1930)

The article examines the policy of Great Britain in the Mediterranean region in the years preceding the Second Italo-Ethiopian War. The author turns to the analysis of British economic interests in the Mediterranean and the activities of the government in the interwar period. It is shown that the relatively soft position of Great Britain in relation to Italian expansion was dictated by economic and political circumstances.

F. Ebert and P. von Hindenburg – two Presidents, two Strategy of Foreign Policy

The article examines how Presidents of Weimar Republic F. Ebert and P. von Hindenburg created forecasts and planes towards Soviet Russia in 1920s, diversity of their opinions also focuses on German perception of the soviet elite, stereotypes and images that affects German policy.

G.V. Chicherin and the Soviet Foreign Policy in the East Countries

The article is devoted looks and activity of folk commissar on foreign affairs George Vasilievich Chicherin in the field of soviet east policy. On the basis of the archived documents an author exposes or specifies the role of Chicherina in several events 1920-kh, related to becoming and development of relations of Soviet Russia with its east neighbours. Many of these documents are entered in a scientific turn first.

John Merick at the Talks in Ladoga, 1616

The article by Y.N. Rabinovich is dedicated to that period in the Time of Troubles in the Russian North which hadn’t been studied in detail by other historians – the talks in Ladoga, followed by the making of the Stolbov agreement. The article covers in detail the development of the talks on the background of quickly changing military and political situation, the main event of which was a march of Charles Gullenalm for Pskov.

Франко-российское соперничество в Северной Африке в 2010-е годы

Статья посвящена соперничеству Франции и России в Северной Африке в 2010-х гг., когда распространение «арабской весны» в этом регионе исказило существовавший политический ландшафт. Рассматривается политика Франции на североафриканском направлении, а также интересы и задачи России в регионе. Отмечается изменение политико-экономических связей государств Северной Африки с мировыми акторами в условиях увеличения частоты кризисов в мировой энергетической сфере и постепенного ухудшения политической ситуации между ЕС и Россией.

The U. S. Sanctions Policy towards the DPRK (1948–2020)

The article examines the evolution of the sanctions policy of the United States against North Korea. It is noted that this policy has gone through several stages over the past seventy years. The article analyzes the reasons for the restrictions, as well as the results achieved by the White House administration. The periodization of the US sanctions policy towards the DPRK is given.

Eastern Mediterranean and the Syrian issue in the foreign policy priorities of Russia and the United States

Russian and foreign specialists continue to maintain their research interest in the Eastern Mediterranean, both in view of the energy potential of the region as well as unresolved security issues. This article considers the role of global powers – Russia and the United States – in the Eastern Mediterranean from the point of view of the theory of the regional security complex. An attempt was made to determine the interests and priorities of Moscow and Washington on the basis of an analysis of the doctrinal approaches of both states in the identified subcomplex.

The American vector of Russia’s foreign policy in the period of Boris Yeltsin’s first presidency

The article considers Russia’s foreign policy towards the United States in 1991–1996. The desire of the Russian leadership to achieve the level of strategic partnership with the United States is shown in the conditions of the formation of a new Russian statehood and the weakening of the country’s international positions. The conclusion ismade about the collapse of Moscow’s unjustified hopes and illusions for equal cooperation with Washington.

The evolution of Western Powers’ perceptions of the Soviet-German relations in 1918–1924

On the basis of the study of the Documents of foreign policy of Great Britain, France and the United States the author identifies the main stages of Soviet and German relations in the socalled Rapallo period. Each stage has its own features of the perception and their prospects by these countries. The author concludes that Western countries’ assessments of German-Soviet relations are interdependent and interconnected with their foreign policy and foreign economic decisions.
