ИМПИЧМЕНТ ПРОТИВ КЛАРЕНДОНА И ЕГО ЗНАЧЕНИЕ ДЛЯ ПОЛИТИЧЕСКОЙ ЖИЗНИ АНГЛИИ ПЕРИОДА РЕСТАВРАЦИИ

Аннотация: 

В 1667 году палата общин выдвинула импичмент против бывшего лорд-канцлера Эдварда Хайда, графа Кларендона, обвинив его в государственной измене. На основе исследования текста обвинительного акта автор приходит к выводу, что обвинение было сфабрикованным и преследовало две цели: во-первых, уничтожить репутацию Кларендона и таким образом свести на нет его влияние в палате лордов, во-вторых, возложить на него всю вину за неудачные и непопулярные решения правительства, легитимировав тем самым существующую власть в глазах населения. Прослеживается генеалогия обвинительного акта: демонстрируется преемственность его содержания по отношению к ряду других выдвинутых в XVII веке обвинений подобного рода.
