The culture of the Trans-Volga rear in 1914–1917 in the contemporary edition experience of the City of Samara

The review is devoted to the first large-scale publication of sources on the culture of the Samara province during the First World War. The book was prepared by the staff of the Samara Regional Universal Scientific Library, among whom experienced historians which included experienced historians and was assisted by specialists from other cultural institutions. It meets modern criteria for the selection and publication of documentary materials. A contribution has been made to the study of the cultural life in a difficult era.

The creation of the Bard: The search for national identity in 18th century English culture

The article is devoted to the problem of searching for “places of memory”, variants of national self-identity in the English culture of the Enlightenment era. It is shown that the long-term Anglo-French political rivalry prevented the use of the experience of continental neighbors in art, and the long-standing tradition of the historical genre, representing timeless eternal ethical values, has almost exhausted itself.

Entertainment as a Part of Leisure Activities in Lifestyles of Americans During Great Depression

This article studies the role of entertainment in leisure of Americans in 1930s. It attempts to analyze the reasons for changes in the lifestyles of Americans during Great Depression and to investigate the factor which can explain the extraordinary popularity of film industry among different layers of American society.

В статье дан анализ реализации основных направлений молодежной политики СССР в период хрущевских и брежневских
экономических реформ на примере конкретного региона. Главное внимание сосредоточено на роли досуговых учреждений в
профилактике преступности несовершеннолетних и молодежи Нижней Волги. Статья базируется на богатом фактическом материале, из архивов и периодической печати.

The Revolution of 1917 in the Cultural Life of the Bashkiria and Orenburg Region in the Period of «Thaw»

This article discusses how in the period of «thaw» in the southern Urals in the Orenburg region and the Bashkiria the theme of the revolution of 1917 is risen in the cultural life. Through the analysis of the media a tendency of the Soviet government towards cinematic coverage of the events of the Great October is revealed. It is established that the appeal to these events in the 50s–60s of the last century were not accidental – a new society needed a «hero of the time».
