The Evolution of George H. W. Bush Administration's Egyptian Policy (1989-1992)

The article considers the policy of George H. W. Bush Republican administration towards Egypt. The author analyzes the background, factors of formation, evolution and results of the U.S. Egyptian policy during the period under review.

В статье анализируется реакция официального Ирана на итоги президентских выборов в Египте 2012 года. Победа исламиста Мохаммеда Мурси открывала широкие перспективы для Ирана по восстановлению дипломатических отношений на основе концепции «Исламского пробуждения». Рассматривается инициатива Ирана по приглашению М. Мурси на саммит Организации Движения неприсоединения (ОДН) в Тегеране и установление первых официальных контактов на высшем уровне.

Conflicts of the Arab and Jewish Population in the First Half of the 20th Century: the Domination of Violence and the International Context

The paper is aimed at identifying the main causes of the dominance of violence in the interaction of Arabs and Jews in the Middle East in the first half of the 20th century. At that time Zionism finally took shape as political force, and the active migration of Jews to the territory
of Palestine began to provoke the Arabs. The author researches the conflict through the prism of the international presence in the region and concludes that the UK has not coped with the stabilization of the situation in the mandated territory.

«Islamic Awakening» and «Syrian Spring»

The article analyzes the main provisions of the concept of «Islamic Awakening», which became the basis of the foreign policy doctrine of Iran in the period of «Arab spring». However, given the specifics of the development of events in 2011 in Syria, called the Syrian Spring, which did not fit into the concept of Islamic Awakening, the Iranian authorities were forced to “finalize” it.

Chronicle of the Events of the 50s of the XX Century in the Middle East in Reflection of the Turkish Magazine «Akis»

The article is devoted to the events in the Middle East of the middle of the 20th century and their reflection on the pages of the Turkish opposition magazine Akis. The author pays special attention to the discussion and assessments of Turkey’s interference in the regional conflict, shows the evolution of the magazine’s position in relation to the Suez events, Egypt and its leader, G. A. Nasser.

Iran and the «Arab Peace Initiative» on Syria

Based on Iranian and Arabian sources, the article analyzes the formation of the «Arab peace initiative» on Syria, which was supposed to put an end to the 2011 Syrian crisis by regional states. The participation of Iran, the closest ally of Syria in the Middle East region, its reaction and the evolution of the approach to the «Arab initiative» as it is being implemented, is examined.
