Роль Виргинии в антиколониальном движении: от колонии к штату (1763–1776 годы)
В статье рассматривается характер противодействия виргинской колониальной элиты законодательным актам, принятым британским парламентом после окончания Семилетней войны. Представители Виргинии оказались наиболее сплоченной группой среди всех колониальных лидеров, им принадлежала ведущая роль в общем антиколониальном движении, которое началось со стремления колонистов соблюдения своих прав как британских подданных (главным из которых была свобода от налогообложения британским парламентом при отсутствии в нем представителей колоний), а завершилось разрывом отношений с метрополией и провозглашением независимости от неё. Представлены знаковые события этой тяжбы. Политическая атмосфера Виргинии в указанный период проиллюстрирована некоторыми эпизодами, связанными с деятельностью П. Генри, Р. Бланда и Т. Джефферсона.
