Формирование антикатолического дискурса: образ Уильяма Парри в елизаветинской пропаганде

Аннотация: 

Статья посвящена проблеме формирования образа врага-католика, одним из прототипов которого стал Уильям Парри. На основе оригинальных материалов автор показывает использование елизаветинским правительством принадлежности Уильяма Парри к католицизму в борьбе с недоброжелателями королевы. Делается вывод о том, что на примере неудавшегося заговора Уильяма Парри правительственная пропаганда 1580-х гг. демонстрировала безнравственность и низость духовных принципов государственных изменников как особой социальной группы. Позиционирование себя католиком служило маркером возможной нелояльности, но не свидетельствовало о тотальном стремлении всего католического сообщества избавиться от Елизаветы Тюдор.
