“To live in peace and friendship”: N. S. Khrushchev’s view on the normalization of Soviet-American relations (based on the materials of speeches during a trip to the USA in 1959)

The article discusses N. S. Khrushchev’s trip to the USA in September 1959. The unprecedented event is considered in the context of the establishment of Soviet-American relations, and the main focus is on the speeches of the head of the USSR, his view on overcoming the Cold War. Using intent analysis as the main research method, the author comes to the conclusion that N. S. Khrushchev tried to transfer relations between the two superpowers into the mainstream of “real politics”, guided not by ideological contradictions, but by mutual benefits.

«Жить в мире и дружбе»: взгляд Н.С. Хрущева на нормализацию советско-американских отношений (по материалам речей во время поездки в США 1959 г.).

В статье рассматривается поездка Н.С. Хрущева в США в сентябре 1959 года. Беспрецедентное событие рассматривается в контексте налаживания советско-американских отношений, а основное внимание уделено речам главы СССР, его взгляду на преодоление «холодной войны». Используя интент-анализ в качестве основного метода исследования, автор приходят к выводу о попытке Н.С. Хрущева перевести отношения двух сверхдержав в русло «реальной политики», руководствоваться не идеологическими противоречиями, а взаимными выгодами.

The Revolution of 1917 in the Cultural Life of the Bashkiria and Orenburg Region in the Period of «Thaw»

This article discusses how in the period of «thaw» in the southern Urals in the Orenburg region and the Bashkiria the theme of the revolution of 1917 is risen in the cultural life. Through the analysis of the media a tendency of the Soviet government towards cinematic coverage of the events of the Great October is revealed. It is established that the appeal to these events in the 50s–60s of the last century were not accidental – a new society needed a «hero of the time».
