The article for the first time presents the biography of the Saratov governor Danila Varfolomeevich Khitrovo, as well as brief information about his ancestors, the Bolkhov landowners. D. V. Khitrovo began his service at the court of Tsar Mikhail Romanov in the late 1630s. as a tenant. During the reign of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich, he continued to serve as a solicitor, and then as a steward. Particular attention is paid to the Saratov period in the life of D. V. Khitrovo.

From the XV century in the Russian state, an award for certain military merits is known in the form of rewarding those who distinguished themselves, or those who participated in a particular military campaign, with gilded silver or gold coins. The Moscow Kremlin Museums keep a gold award with an owner’s inscription stating that it was granted in 1639/40 to the stolnik Vasily Grigorievich Fefilatiev. This is the oldest personalized Russian award to date. It was possible to establish that the gold was awarded for the Saratov service in 1636.

It is said about his regimental service in Mtsensk, Lomov, Tula.

The article for the first time presents a detailed biography of the governor of Saratov Nikita Ivanovich Golovin. This serviceman in the homeland began his service at court in 1639 with the rank of steward. He received his first voivodship appointment in 1650, being appointed governor to Bryansk, and at the beginning of 1657 he was sent to Saratov as governor. Particular attention in the article is paidtothe Saratov service of N. I. Golovin.

The article for the first time presents a detailed biography of the governor of Saratov, Vasily Vasilyevich Neledinsky. This serviceman from the fatherland in his youth became a tenant at the court of Mikhail Romanov, and after 20 years he was transferred to the Moscow nobles. He received his first voivodship appointment in the Ket prison in Siberia, then participated in the suppression ofthe uprising in Novgorod and Pskov, and served as governor in Rylsk.

The article for the first time presents the biography of the previously unknown governor of Saratov Yakov Gavrilovich Pisemsky, as well as his father, Gavrila Ivanovich,the founder ofthe city of Tomsk. Yakov Pisemsky began his service as an elected nobleman in Tula, then became a Moscow tenant, for some time he was the steward of Patriarch Filaret, and from March 1628 until the end of his life – a Moscow nobleman. Service as governor in Saratov in 1642–43 was the last step in his life.

In his youth, this serviceman from his homeland became the steward of Patriarch Filaret, then a solicitor, and then the tsar’s steward. After serving in Saratov, he participated in the campaign of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich to Riga, was a voivode in Glukhov and Pereyaslavl Yuzhny. 

The article for the first time presents a detailed biography of the governor of Saratov, Averky Fedorovich Boltin. This serving man from Arzamas became the steward of Patriarch Filaret, and then a Moscow nobleman. After serving in Saratov, he was a voivode in Tomsk, defended Kiev from the traitor-hetman Ivan Vyhovsky, served in Old Bykhov.

For the first time, the article presents the life of the Ryazan landowner Nikifor Mikhailovich Koshelev, whose service in the 1620s was closely associated with Saratov. Having been appointed commander of the streletsky order in the left-bank Saratov (streletsky head), he distinguished himself in many battles against thieves Cossacks and Tatars, for which he was twice awarded by the government of Mikhail Romanov.
