John Northampton: Personality and political career of a London citizen of the second half of the 14th century
The article examines the political career and personal aspect of the life of John Northampton, a representative of the ruling elite of London in the second half of the 14th century. It is shown that his activity fell during one of the turbulent periods in the history of London, and his life as a man and politician was very dramatic. It concludes that he was an original personality with a strong-willed character, a single-minded and determined leader of a political faction in the capital municipality, who made conscious efforts to form an impression of his piety and spiritual well-being, and took care to preserve his name in the memory of future generations.
