I.A. Fessler in Volga Region

In Russian and European historiography D. V. Gorbachev’s article presents the first example of a critical analysis dealing with memoirs of I. A. Fessler, being a German thinker, public and religious figure, writer and freemason. The author purposes to estimate the reliability of information about Fessler’s stay in Saratov Volga region in 1810–1820th which is described in these memoirs. Insufficiently explored memoirs of the nobles about Pugachevshina: "Home Notes Journal…"

The article analyses «Home Notes Journal – a source of a memoir type, unpublished and insufficiently explored dealing with the siege of Orenburg during Pugachev's Rebellion of 1773–1775. The purpose of this article is to examine the source from the author`s social psychology not from its actual side. The work aims to reconstruct the author's perception of the rebels, his interpretation of the nature of the historical event, its social basis and its causes.

Countess A. D. Bludova and her Memoirs

The article is devoted to the study of the biography and the political outlook of Countess A. D. Bludova, who took an active part in public life of Russia in the XIX century. The basis of the article is the analysis of A. D. Bludova' s notes and memoirs. The author formulates a conclusion concerning the place of the political events of European history at the turn of the 1820–1830s in the folding and evolution of features of A. D. Bludova’s political outlook.

Eugene Tour – a memoirist of the Russo-Turkish war of 1877–1878

The article deals with the memorial heritage of the Russian writer and journalist E. V. Salias de Tournemire. Her memories are devoted to a significant event of the XIX century. - Russo-Turkish war of 1877–1878. The author analyzes the views of the memoirist concerning the causes and course of hostilities with the Ottoman Empire, shows the impact of public forces in the country's foreign policy.

Fiction and Historical Truth in Boris Savinkov’s Memoirs

The article analyzes the literary creativity of one of the leaders of the Socialist Revolutionary Party, Boris Savinkov. The influence of creativity on the reliability of memoirs is investigated. From the standpoint of documentary facts, the objectivity of Savinkov’s memoirs as a historical source is considered. The author explores the reasons that prompted Savinkov to write memoirs. The author investigates the importance attached to the memoirs. The influence of memoirs on his contemporaries is investigated.

The state of the source base of researches of the daily practices of the population of the Saratov region in the second half of the 1950s – mid 1980s

The article presents an analytical review of the types of sources identified by the author (written, oral, audiovisual) for studying the history of the daily life of the population of the Saratov region in the second half of the 1950s and mid-1980s.
