Graduates of the girls’ boarding schools in the Women’s Religious Schools of the Russian Empire (the second half of the XIXth – beginning of the XXth century)

Women’s Religious Schools, which occupied an important place in the Russian system of female education, were modeled on the girls’ boarding schools of Establishments of Empress Maria. The female students themselves, despite the characterization of institute education as impractical and out of touch with reality, played a very active role in the work of these schools. The data presented in the article highlights the significant percentage of female students who became heads, educators, and teachers of women’s Religious Schools.

Институтки в женских духовных училищах Российской империи. Вторая половина XIX — начало ХХ вв.

Женские духовные училища, занимавшие важное место в системе русского женского образования, учреждались по образцу институтов Мариинского ведомства, а сами институтки, вопреки характеристике институтского образования как непрактичного, оторванного от жизни, принимали в работе этих училищ самое активное участие. Приводимые в статье данные показывают, насколько значительным был процент институток среди начальниц, воспитательниц и учительниц женских духовных училищ.

Public education in Tsaritsyn–Stalingrad in 1917–1929: Formation, difficulties, results N

The article analyzes the process of formation and development of public education in Tsaritsyn-Stalingrad from 1917(from the creation of the state commission for education in Soviet Russia) to the end of the 1920s (the results achieved in the eradication of illiteracy among the urban population, its vocational training). The activities of the city council and the section of public education are highlighted, difficulties in eliminating illiteracy, creating the material and technical base of educational institutions, and training qualified personnel are identified.
