The assistance of the population of Saratov and the region to hospitals during the Great Patriotic War

During the Great Patriotic War, the rear areas of the country became centres where a network of evacuation and local hospitals was created. One of those regions was the Saratov Volga region. The paper considers the patriotic movements that unfolded in Saratov and the region to provide various assistance from the population to hospitals in which wounded soldiers and officers of the Red Army were treated. The author comes to the conclusion that people of the city and villagers immediately responded to the calls of the local authorities for help.

Помощь населения Саратова и области госпиталям в годы Великой Отечественной войны

В годы Великой Отечественной войны тыловые районы страны стали центрами, где создавалась сеть эвакуационных и местных госпиталей. Одним из таких регионов стало Саратовское Поволжье. В статье рассматриваются патриотические движения, развернувшиеся в Саратове и области по оказанию различной помощи со стороны населения госпиталям, в которых лечились раненые солдаты и офицеры Красной армии. Автор приходит к выводу, что горожане и сельчане сразу же откликались на призывы местных властей о помощи.

Construction of defensive fortifications on the territory of the Saratov region during the Great Patriotic War

In the article the author addresses one of the little-studied issues of the history of the Great Patriotic War in regional historiography. The construction of defensive lines on the territory of the Saratov region, which was located for a long time in the near rear of the Soviet-German front, was carried out for a year and a half, took on a large spatial scale and required large-scale expenditures of human and material resources. From the autumn of 1941 until March 1943, six field-type defense lines with a total length of over 600 kilometers were built in the region.
