A Failed Alliance: the Functioners of «The New Russian School» on the Service of Alexander III

The author of this article points out a complicated relations between the Imperor Alexander III and the functioners of «The New Russian School». There are examined Alexander’s nationalist preferences in painting and music and his policy toward the fine arts in Russia. The article demonstrate some similarities in concepts of «Russian» and «National» between the Imperor and the members of «Russian Five» and explane the reasons of their failed alliance.

The Agrarian Legislative Government of Alexander III and the Russian Peasantry

The main object of the article is the socio-economic situation in Russia in the end of 19th century. The measures of the central and local administration, applied in the Russian village, have been analyzed within this research. The author resumes that the reforms of the authorities had made the position of the peasantry more complicated.
