Salaries in the judicial compensation system of the Russian Empire in 1801–1864

This article, using unpublished archival sources from the Russian State Historical Archives (RGIA) and legislative acts, examines the organization of salary production as a fundamental element of the judicial financial support system in the Russian Empire from 1801 to 1864. The article examines the role of salaries in the judicial financial support system and analyzes their sources, structure, and types of deductions. The author concludes that judges’ salaries, as a legal source of their financial support, played a key role in their material well-being.
