Public education in Tsaritsyn–Stalingrad in 1917–1929: Formation, difficulties, results N

The article analyzes the process of formation and development of public education in Tsaritsyn-Stalingrad from 1917(from the creation of the state commission for education in Soviet Russia) to the end of the 1920s (the results achieved in the eradication of illiteracy among the urban population, its vocational training). The activities of the city council and the section of public education are highlighted, difficulties in eliminating illiteracy, creating the material and technical base of educational institutions, and training qualified personnel are identified.

Missionary activity of the co-religionist clergy of the Samara province in the second half of the 19th – early 20th century

The article presents an overview of the activities of the co–religionist clergy in the context of the struggle of the Russian Orthodox Church with the Old Believer schism in the Samara province of the second half of the XIX – early XX century. The co-faith is considered as a missionary platform, on the basis of which it became possible for Old Believers to reunite with Orthodoxy on the conditions of preserving the pre-Canonical liturgical practice.

At the origins of the Saratov zemstvo statistics: L. S. Lichkov

Of great importance in the economic activities of the zemstvos was statistical work on determining the socio-economic condition of peasant households, which were the basis of the country’s productive forces. Zemstvo statisticians independently developed and improved the methodology for conducting them. L. S. Lichkov, who was one of the first to join the ranks of Zemstvo statisticians, made his contribution to it.

Governor of Saratov Vasily Vasilyevich Neledinsky (1655–1657)

The article for the first time presents a detailed biography of the governor of Saratov, Vasily Vasilyevich Neledinsky. This serviceman from the fatherland in his youth became a tenant at the court of Mikhail Romanov, and after 20 years he was transferred to the Moscow nobles. He received his first voivodship appointment in the Ket prison in Siberia, then participated in the suppression ofthe uprising in Novgorod and Pskov, and served as governor in Rylsk.

Forms of Re-evacuation of Population from the Saratov Area in the Years of Great Patriotic War

The article is sacred to the insufficiently known aspects of migration of population in the years of Great Patriotic war. On the basis of the vast archived material an author investigates receptions and methods of returning of the evacuated population into former places of inhabitation, general mechanism of re-evacuation processes. The features of state and independent re-evacuation come to light. Likenesses and distinctions of re-evacuation processes are shown for the different social and professional layers of soviet society.

Tenement Houses in Saratov

The article considers merchant tenement houses genesis in Saratov. The paper analyses the architecture of objects in question. One deals with three directions replacing each other successively: classicism, eclecticism (historicism), and modern. Apart from the history and the development of tenement houses that are worth paying attention to, interest to such buildings is also explained by resuming of such civil engineering today.

Municipal Credit Institutitions of Saratov in Late XIX – Early XX Century

Research is devoted to the credit institutions existed in Saratov in the late XIX – early XX century and was in charge of the Saratov city duma: to public bank, а pawnshop and a city credit association. The author cites the basic and economic development of the city. Credit institutions are considered as the importans component of a municipal system of Saratov in this period.

Foreign Nationals in Saratov Region in 1812: Construction of the Collective Image

The article devoted to the «surveying» of foreign citizens in Russia in 1812, which has become a significant and complex procedure. The results of these actions gave historians reach material for depicturing a detailed socio-historical portrait of foreign nationals, who has happened to be in Saratov region at the beginning of Patriotic War.

Saratov voevoda Vladimir Annichkov (1607–1608)

This article is devoted to the life of one of the little-known figures of the time of the Trouble who was in the center of events in the middle and low regions of the Volga. The author regards the following destiny of this person, his turn to the side of Michael Romanov’s government, his occupation as a voevoda of Ufa and taking part in the defense of Moskow during the Polish attack in 1618.

Industrial Upgrading of the Saratov Region during the Second Five-Year Plan (1933–1937)

The submitted article is original research of the features of the industrial development of the Saratov region during the Second Five-Year Plan. The author examines the branch structure of industry in the region, particularly of the directive model of industrial modernization on the basis of new archival data using the modern methodological principles.
